Hi Doug,

Many thanks for that.

A while after I had posted I investigated Elizabeth's family further and found she had a brother, William Hadley Stanfield born circa 1851 so that fits with your supposition and the 1880 Census.

Is it possible to find this family in the earlier censuses please as it looks like Edward has re-married.

I really need to find his parents so that I can track the line back andhopefully connect it with one in my database.
