Thanks for replying. I'm sorry you're not related because I certainly need help on this one! lol! I think I can make a case for my C.C. Archer being the son of the C.C. Archer from England that lived in Va and NC and whose siblings went to MO. I have a census of my Charles C. in 1860, that shows Amerides Oaks in the household. According to the book" History of Pioneer Families of Missouri", C.C. Archer of VA,NC, had a daughter Elizabeth that married a Presley Oaks. They show a daughter on census named America Oaks, the same age as Amerides Oaks. I think that is too much coincidence for them not to be the same person. America Oaks married Jesse V. Mullens Aug.31, 1860 in Tipton County. That would make her under the age of 16, which I'm told, would require parent or guardian approval. I just need to get a copy of the marriage bond or whatever it is called and see who signed giving her permission to marry. I have been unable to verify, outside of the the MO book, that Presley Oaks did marry Elizabeth Archer. She was born abt. 1808 and I don't know if she married in NC or MO. Can't find anything on her in either place.
Oh well, such is the fun of genealogy- answering one question and creating five more!
Thanks for you input. I will check out the EE Archer but I don't think my C.C. Archer ever went to MO, but maybe he did.
Thanks again. If you run across anything that looks interesting, let me know, please.
