Looking for parents and first wife of George Bates.
George Sr. was born in N or S Carolina (various Census Records), children with his first wife born in Tennessee are Abner 1818, Alfred 1822, Mary 1825, George Jr. 1826, James A. 1830, plus others that I have not found documents for. He had William 1836 TN and second son named James 1838 MO with wife Nancy (maiden name unknown).
He moved from Tennessee to Arkansas by 1850 before moving to Crawford County Missouri by 1860. I am only interested in DOCUMENTED facts. I will share what I have. I have seen listings that Matthew & Judith are his parents. I have been to Washington County Kentucky where Matthew lived with his children before moving to Missouri and have marriage records for Matthews children and there is no indication that this George was there.
