Thought I would reply on a different forum, as the other one was getting so long.
I called the funeral home in Friendship TN. The current owners bought the funeral home on Dec 20, 1976, so have no older records. They did look for John Charles in that small part of 1976, but didn't have anything on him. He is not listed in the Ronk Funeral Home (in nearby Alamo TN) that is at the Crockett Co TN Genweb site.
I called the Crockett Co Times newspaper yesterday morning. As they are a weekly newspaper they said that they could look for information in 1976. I did not hear from them yesterday, so possibly they were busy and didn't get all of the year checked yet.
I, also, had written to a Watson family reseacher listed on the Crockett Co Genweb site. She replied that she was not familiar with the John Charles buried there, but when she next saw her parents she would ask them about him.
Will let you know if I hear anything.
