Hi Liz!
Yes, there were quite a few Gammills in TN by 1860 and during 1840-1860 no doubt some more of them had moved to IL and other locations. Margaret and those other Gammills found in the 1840 census list for IL were the early birds. There just weren't any living very close to her at that particular time that I could find. Thanks for taking the time to put all that data together.
