Old Troy, Tennessee, Where is it??

In researching my Madden ancesters, several who were born in north-west TN, have listed in correspondance and on death certificates that they were born in "Old Troy" TN. I can find no mention of "Old Troy". This would have been in the 1870's. I stopped in Troy once and asked two policeman if there had ever been an area known as "Old Troy" and they were not aware of such a place nor an area of Troy by that name. Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks in advance. Richard
