I have been told by my Uncle Edward "Pete" Hicks in Popular Bluff, Missouri that Nathaniel "Cricket" Hicks parents were Daniel Hicks and Temperance Parish. I have had a hard time locating information to support this family story and or an extended Hicks bloodline.
I have been told the family line comes from Ireland-Scotland. Uncle Pete had a "Hicks" family Coat of Arms / Hicks Family Crest. Uncle Pete is no longer with us. Wish i had asked more questions.
I favor the first born tradition of naming the first born grandchild after the grandfather. Did Nathaniel do this?? Was Abraham his father?????
I have no definate information on the brothers or parents of Nathaniel "Cricket" Hicks. Wish I did....

William W, Age 2, Born 1848, Tenn.
1860 U.S.Census, Overton Co. Tenn. Name under HIX.
Nathaniel Hix, Age 25, Head of household
Biddym Age 25, Wife
Abraham, Age 9
Elizabeth, Age 7
William, Age 5
John, Age 3
Not named male child, Age 1/2 yr. old.
