Bear Creek in 1825 was in Overton County southwest of present-day Rickman with its headwaters at present-day Algood in Putnam County. The creek flows north-northwest and joins the waters of Spring Creek about three miles upstream of Waterloo. Bear Creek flows by a couple of very high hills about a mile out of Algood that would have been considered mountains in early deeds and land grants.
