Shannon,

From the Overton County Roll Call: Cemetery Records 1795-1975 by Gary Denton Norris.

Three Forks Cemetery #121 D-4

There are about 50 unknowns at this cemetery located in the Dry Hollow area. This cemetery was once called the Speck Cemetery. The cemetery gets its name from the three forks of the roads or streams near the cemetery. The Speck cave is near the site.

I did not find any Robbins graves listed for this cemetery in Norris' book. I have visited this cemetery recently and the sign says Speck Cemetery.

I dug deeper to find Sylvester Columbus Robbins. Found him listed in the 1900 Federal census for Overton County District 8 as Columbus Robbins. The record shows him born in July 1863 and 36 years old when the family was counted. He was also listed in 1910 and 1920 but was not in the 1930 census.

So with his birthdate of July 1863 I returned to a second Norris compilation of surnames buried in Overton County. I hit paydirt when I found a listing for C.S.Robbins born July 8, 1863, and died January 13, 1922. He was buried at the Davis Cemetery. So back to the Overton County Roll Call and . . .

Davis Cemetery #124 D-4

There are about 25 unknowns at this cemetery located on the Dry Hollow Road in the Three Forks area.

I found two Robbins with marked graves listed.
C.S.Robbins 07-08-1863 01-13-1922
L.C.Robbins ??-??-???? ??-??-????

I was directed to a book on the Robbins family Saturday at the library in Livingston. I did find a note about Sylvester Columbus Robbins. He was born July 18, 1863, and died at Crawford on January 13, 1922. The book states he was buried at the Three Forks cemetery.

The Speck and Davis cemeteries are both marked with signs. The Davis Cemetery is on the right just before you turn left off Dry Hollow Road to the Three Forks Church.

I believe this to be Sylvester Columbus Robbins final resting place.

Mike Boswell
