Shannon, I found little information today on Pearlie Robbins Key but this does not mean the door is closed. I assume a funeral home in Anderson prepared her body to be transported to Tennessee. Can you tell me the name of this funeral home and the name of the funeral home receiving the body in Tennessee? The obituary you read states she was buried at Crawford with family. In 1946 two funeral homes were operating in the area, Goff at Monterey and Speck in Livingston. Crawford is equidistant between the two towns, but if we assume in 1946 the body was shipped to Tennessee by train then Goff probably handled the burial since the train came through Monterey but not Livingston. I feel confident that I can confirm her burial at Crawford. I found a cemetery where her brother and sister (who married Carmen Key) are buried. Some logistical considerations . . . Crawford is approximately two miles up the mountain from Three Forks and the Davis Cemetery. The old road is rutted and passable only with 4WD or an ATV, but in 1922 when Sylvester Columbus Robbins passed, the road was regularly traveled and good enough to bring his body from the top of the mountain at Crawford to Three Forks in the January cold and ice. If you know the names of the funeral homes this will help speed the search but I believe we will know for certain within 48-72 hours. Mike Notify Administrator about this message?
