Shannon,

No luck with obituaries for Pearlie Robbins Key in Tennessee. I cannot locate 1943 copies of the Livingston Enterprise (Overton County) or the Putnam Herald (Cookeville/Monterey).

The Speck Funeral in Livingston and Goff Funeral Home in Monterey have no record of receiving Pearlie and arranging burial on July 1, 1943.

I visited the Honey Springs Cemetery yesterday. This is the public cemetery located at Crawford. The groundskeeper was working and stopped to talk to me. I told him I was trying to find Carson and Pearl Key's graves. He smiled and said Carson was his grandfather Carmen's brother. Carmen married Pearl's sister Cora Belle.

The groundskeeper said he remembered watching the grave being dug for Belle when she died in 1954. He was only seven. His grandfather Carmon died later in Missouri and was returned for burial beside Belle.

He remembers his mother (Carmon and Belle's daughter) talking about Carson and Pearl. He showed me Carmon and Belle's graves. These were marked with only cinder blocks and no inscriptions. To the left of their graves are two unmarked plots. Past the two unmarked plots are the graves of two Key children. The two unmarked plots are where the groundskeeper believes Carson and Pearl to be buried.

I have a couple names and numbers of elderly Key family members from the area who I need to contact. Don't know if they are a direct line to Carson and Pearl, or just part of the extended family.

Do you know of any Key relatives in the Overton County or Crawford area? I spoke with a Lucille Key yesterday, age 80, from Crawford. She stated some of the Keys were buried at the bottom of the mountain on the river. I asked if she meant Three Forks and she said yes. Both the groundskeeper and Miss Lucille said you could walk the mountain trail from Crawford/Honey Springs down to Three Forks in thirty minutes.

The search will continue for proof positive.

Mike
