I am a teacher and recieved this email from a family member. Thought I could make it more interesting to the classroom. Anyone have anything thay might like to add? Stories or something to put it in perspective.
"My 3rd great grandfather on the Vera Stout’s side of the family was George Donald Wright born 1829 Roane County, TN died 1865. From the 1860 census he was one of, if not the wealthiest men in Roane county.
Who would ever have thought our family a little over a hundred years ago had amassed such wealth!
In the 1860 census the closest anyone comes on that page in value is $300.
