Folks here were I’m stuck. The information listed below is all I have on William M Robertson of Rutherford County TN. The only Proof I have of his place of Birth is on census records. I’ve beaten my head against many trees trying to find his parents. IF anyone out there has any information please let me know.

My research has taken me back to this date and time. I would be most happy to exchange notes with persons who belive they may be linked to this family.William M. born in South Carolina, parents unknown, moved westward to Eastern Tennessee early in 1800's, June 30, 1825 married Rebecca, daughter of Mills Manor, a planter and slave owner in Rutherford County, TN. In 1838 He and family migrated to Texas.In 1843 He and family migrated to Mo, settling on a farm near Egypt Mills, Cape Girardeau County.Rebecca died Nov. 26, 1846 ten days after the birth of her last child Granville.William M. is believed to have returned to Tennessee to find his second wife, they were married Aug, 11, 1847.When gold was discovered in California in 1849 William M. joined the rush and returned home about Christmas of 1853. Cape Girardeau County records indicate he was presumed dead for the eldest son, Joseph M., was appointed guardian of the minor Children of "William M. Robertson, deceased" in the matter of an estate settlement for Mills Manor, there grandfather in Tennessee had died leaving some property and a number of slaves. The final resting place of William M. is at the side of his first wife, Rebecca, who bore him so many children and shared in his travels, their eldest son, Joesph M., rests beside them in Hempstead Cemetery near

William M. Robertson was born May 30, 1797 in South Carolina, and died February 11, 1865 in Egypt Mills, Cape Girardeau County, MO. He married (1) Rebecca Manor on June 30, 1825 in Rutherford county, TN. He married (2) Milly Mills on August 11, 1847 in Rutherford county, TN.
