My ancestor Cader Dement had a plantation in Rutherford Co. TN. I really don't know where he lived...East Forks of the Stones River. His brother Abner lived near Lascasses, TN. There are two Dement Cemetery listed in this area of Rutherford Co. TN. But I think Abner's descendants are buried there? In court records in 1849, James CRICHLOW was paid for $16 for making his coffin. And Willis BAUCUM was paid $20 for building a wall around his grave. This seems like a lot of money as a cow and calf went for $8 and an ox cart for $16 at his estate sale. Those listed at the estate sale (besides Dements:Charles, Joseph A., David H.,David D.,James A.,James T., Wilson Y.) were William DOVE, John DOVE, Mathew PITTS, Ezekiel PITTS,Anderson PITTS, John A HARTWELL, John M CALDWELL, James A TARPLEY, John E MOORE, Peter T VAUGHAN, Robert JONES, O.E. Susan C HARRISON & Elizabeth FULLER were daughters of Cader DEMENT. Is there any other family connections here? Warren MOORE was appointed guardian for Cader's wife, Francis who was deranged in her mind. William J PHILIPS was guardian of Cader's grandchildren by his deceased son George Washington DEMENT.
I want to know where Cader DEMENT lived and where he was buried. I feel surely there was a family gravesite on his farm. And most were buried in the mid 1800s so the stones may not be readable but there was a wall built around Cader's grave.
Cader's son Joseph Andrew Dement lived across the county line in Cannon Co. TN. Cader also owned land in Williamson Co. TN.
