There is an 1810 Rutherford County census online and it is free. It can be found on the Rutherford Gen web site and also on the Census project. I do not have the web address. Thank You Rutherford Co. hosts for transcribing and making this valuable research tool available online!!! I do have a couple of questions. Did this census include all of Rutherford County??? Where were the areas included?? A specific question is where did Obediah Garner live?? Where did a man named String field live (pg 40?? Where did James Taylor live (pg.20}. I can't recall if William Lytle was included in this census?? These people are listed, but I don't know what part of the County they lived in??? My Ancestor Joseph Guess from Orange Co.,N.C. served in the Rev.War. His Officers included Lytle, Taylor and Gen. Rutherford. He moved to Rutherford County, Tn. probably after 1807. He had married Constance Taylor in N.C. in 1787. It is my belief she was closely related to William Lytles wife, who was a Nancy Taylor Constance was possibly her Aunt or Sister and possibly a sister to Thomas Taylor. One of Joseph and Constance Taylor Guess's daughters Margaret "Peggy" married a son of Obediah Garner, John Garner in 1816, in Rutherford County. John Garner was a widower with children and only lived for about a year after his marriage to Peggy Guess. They had one child, a son named William. Joseph and Constance Taylor Guess and their family moved to Caldwell County Ky. around 1820. It has been very difficult to find any records of this family in Rutherford Co. Tn., except for the Ref in the Rev. War Application, Peggys marriage, and the Guardianship of her son William Garner abt. 1820, John Garners estate settlement. In Josephs Rev. War application, he refers to a Teacher in Rutherford County, named Stringfellow. I think Mr. Stringfellow?? had helped the family write some information in the Bible. I thought this might be the Stringfield listed in the 1810 census. Joseph and Constance had children in school in Rutherford Cty. abt. 1817 & one of their daughters had taken the Family Bible to school, where it was stolen during the night. This was mentioned on Joseph Guess's Rev. War pension application. Does anyone know where the School might have been?? This would really help me identify where in Rutherford County my Guess family lived. Does anyone know where the Stringfield or Stringfellow family lived???
