I've done a bit of research on this North Carolina Shoemaker family and only know of one other fellow, Henry's 1/2 brother Ike, that lived in the area during this period.
Isaac Marion Shoemaker was a merchant that owned a store, first in Wayne County, KY and then in Helenwood. Your gr grandfather, Bailey, lived with and worked for him for awhile. To my knowledge Ike only had one daughter and died in 1926.
I did find the parents of Fred, Mitt and Humphrey listed on the 1900 Wise County, VA census. Their parents are Franklin and Sarah Shoemaker (both born in Tennessee as were their parents). Living with this family is Franklin's brother John Sherman Shoemaker born 5 August 1883 in Scott County, Tennessee. I assume the Roy William Shoemaker, I mentioned earlier, is probably another brother to Franklin.
