1863 Marriage Record - Original or Handwritten Copy?

I ordered a copy of the 1863 marriage record for John O. Massingale as I described in an earlier message. I received photocopies of both the license and record of the marriage "from the book". Oddly, there is just a blank space where the bride's name should be. It has been suggested to me that what I received were not copies of the originals at all but, rather, of handwritten copies of the originals. Can anyone tell me if perhaps some older Scott Co. marriage records were copied by hand at any point due to damaged originals or something? I just cannot fathom how the bride's name could otherwise have been ommitted.
