I know that the message I'm responding to is old, but I found it while I was doing a search and thought it was interesting. My gg grandfather was Marion Watters born 1856. He married Mary Newport York. I think her father's name was York, but she seemed to use Newport, which was her mother's name. Marion and Mary's son was James Watters who married Sally Sexton (my g grandparents). Strange, everyone of the surnames you listed is in my direct lineage. I wonder if it was someone of note in that little area of Tennessee.
