If you live locally,go to the Knox County Archived (2nd floor East Tennessee Historical Center.) I belive they have a book there showing divorce records. I was looking for one in the late 1920 early 1930's. I had no luck. 2nd why not try to get a copy of his birth certificate from Nashville. He had to have a witness to his birth to cut the red tape. He had to have one to collect social security.
3rd. You said he died in 1964. If in Knox Co go to the health department on Damron Avenue and see if they have it there I belived it cost about $10.00 not sure. You might want to call to see how for back they keep them. (ONly Knox County) If he died in Sevier County, check the health department there or send to Nashville for one. I think you can get the form on the internet thru State of Tennessee or Tennessee archives. Suggestion: Check the 1900 Knox Co. Cenus 17th district page 2B and 3A (page 4 & 5 on Ancestry Census) #38-39 at bottom of page? Could this be who you are looking for? Also, found Curtis Wright in 1820 census in 17th district It showed him as head of the household no one else living with him and also as divorced. I could not find him anywhere else.
Happy hunting.
