I'm trying to solve a family mystery
My Allen bloodline:
My great great grandfather John Newton Allen (son of Albert G.W. Allen, grandson of Absalom R. Allen, great grandson of John R. Allen born in England and imigrated to the US and settled in Sevier County)
John Newton Allen had several children (Minnie Allen, Trula Allen, Mack Allen, Dallas Allen, Cecil F Allen (deceased at age 7).
My great grandmother was Trula Allen. The mystery is that a Roy A. Allen married a Minnie Allen in 1918 (per Sevier County records). From what I found so far he looks like a Minnie's cousin (grandparents were brothers that were sons of Absolum). Interestingly, Trula Allen, Minnie's sister, married a Roy A. Allen in Idahoe in 1923 (5 years after a record of Roy A Allen marrying Minnie). My grandmother Elva Ruth Allen believes that Roy may have married Minnie first and Trula later. The sisters never spoke to each other and my grandmother couldn't figure it out. She sais that she believed they both dated Roy. The mystery is that the Roy A. Allen that married Trula had listed in death certificate as Sevier TN as birth place and an Alton Allen and Bertha Ashley listed as his parents. I show a record of an Alton Allen born in Sevierville around 1905 that could have been a younger brother of Roy since Roy was born abound 1901. In records in Sevier County, I found Roy's parents to be Daniel W Allen and Margaret Layman. Did Daniel Allen and Margaret Layman have other children? Any named Alton? Any information about the Roy that is their son? Our family believes Roy may have had his parents names listed inaccuaretly on death certificate since the marriage to Trula would have been was scandelous? Roy remmaried after Trula and passed away in Idahoe. What would the odds be that both sisters would have married a different Roy A. Allen from Seveierville, TN? However, I wanted to see if anyone couldprovide more information about Roy's siblings from what I hear were several from my grandmother (They would be children of Daniel C W. Allen and Margaret Layman from Sevierville TN who may have lived elsewhere as well).
