Your Asa and my Mary Catherine were brother and sister. I'm sorry to say at this time I do not have anything much on Asa and nothing on Walter. I would like to ask two questions - #1 Do you have any dates pertaining to Walter's, birth, death, marriage etc? #2 Is there any possible chance he was in South Western MO before going to TX?
About Mary Breeden, who died from injuries inflicted by the White Caps - I believe (haven proven) that she was the wife of Andrew Breeden son of John and Nancy ? Breeden. In the 1880 Sevier Co TN Census, Andrew is listed age 40 with wife, Mary E age 40, Children John age 15, Jesse age 11, Mary age 7, Martha age 5, Nancy age 2. Andrew was first married to Sarah Blaylock and then to Mary Elizabeth Richards. It is believed that Andrew died before 1893. The story is that Mary and her family were dragged from their home one night in 1893. Jesse abt 24 was the only son living at home. Her oldest daughter Bell (Mary Isabelle) was whipped first then daughter, Martha and then the mother Mary. Mary the mother was injured so badly she died a short time later. As I said I haven't proven any of this, and this information comes from notes I had taken down some time ago, but thought I would pass them along and maybe by chance you can do some good with them. If you can prove these are the same people which to me certainly looks like it may very well be then you are related to this line. My ggrandmother Mary Catherine Hurst Whitted's daughter Polly Vandora Whitted married into this line of Breedens. Let me know if any of this helps.
