Died – KUMMERER - At residence, No. 55 Hernando Street, Monday evening, April 2, 1893, at 8:30 o’clock, John Kummerer, in the 66th year of his age. Funeral from residence this (Monday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 3 o’clock. Friends are invited. (Published in Daily Avalanche 4/4/1893) MRS. MARY KUMMERER – Services For Germany Native Will Be Held Today – Mrs. Mary Kummerer, native of Germany, and resident of Memphis for more than fifty years, died yesterday afternoon. At 4 o’clock at her home at 891 Meda of pneumonia. She was 72 years of age. Mrs. Kummerer came to Memphis direct from Zimmeradorf, her birthplace. She was a Lutheran by faith and always active in church affairs. She had been ill about two weeks. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Clyde Cannaday, and a son, Leopold Kummerer, of Memphis. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Paul H. Schmidt, will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at the residence with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. National Funeral Home is in charge. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 2/23/1937) ANN ELIZABETH KUMMERER, 74, of Memphis, retired security guard from Ascension Tower, died Monday at St. Peter Villa. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. E. H. Ford Mortuary Services has charge. She leaves a daughter, Lou Ann Kummerer of Memphis, and a brother, Howard Fergerson of New Port Ritchey, Fla. The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, West Cancer Clinic Wings Foundation or The Caring Center International. (Published in The Commercial appeal 5/15/2002) MAUDE KUMMERER, 95, of Memphis, retired seamstress, died of complications from Alzheimer disease Tuesday at Saint Francis Nursing Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and served on the altar guild and as a former organist. Mrs. Kummerer, the widow of Leopold Kummerer, also leaves a daughter, Mary Alice Harris of Atoka, Tenn.; a son, Louis Kummerer of Memphis, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ROE FERGUSON, 87, of Memphis, former resident of Snow Lake Shores in Ashland, Mississippi passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Primacy Healthcare. She was born in Humboldt, TN, was a longtime communicant of St Ann's Catholic Church of Bartlett, active with M.I.F.A. and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Ferguson is the widow of Memphis Fire Department District Chief, Frank Ferguson and is survived by her daughter, Frances Kummerer (Louis) of Memphis; grandchildren, Mary Deaton (Steve), Pat Waite (Gary) both of Olive Branch, MS, and Mickey "Carl" Sanford (Roxanne) of Millington; great-grandchildren, Angela, Alisha, Michael, Michelle, Daniel, Andrew and Kellie; great-great-grandchildren, Meredith, Nicholas, Gracie and Logan; cousin, Marguerite Rigdon of Alton, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, September 22 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 23 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with the interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Memphis.
