Does anyone know of a Southard/Southward/Suthard etc. family who was in Shelby Co., TN in the 1850's? They might been passing through from McMinn Co. TN on their way to MO. We are looking for Henderson Southard b. 1856 in TN --we thought he was born in McMinn Co.,TN however his death cert. states he was b. in Shelby Co., TN. The informer for the death cert. was a young son who was born when John was in his 50's. It is possible because of his youth & lack of knowledge of the family that there was a mistake on the death cert. [However I have family member's whose death certs. have errors made by the funeral director!] Henderson Southard died in Dallas Co. MO in 1926. He was married 1st to Elizabeth McPheeters and 2nd to Mary Jane Heslar. His parents were John Southard & Elizabeth Southard (a cousin) both b. 1822 and mar. in McMinn Co. TN. Any clues appreciated.
