The owner of the Brown Boarding House in Newbern TN relayed to her relatives that Elvis Presley boarded there for a short period of time. She said that he was driving a gravel truck and sat on the swing on the porch of the boarding house and played and sang. She said that the other truck drivers would laugh at him. Others in town report that it was about 1953, and that the company he drove for was Memphis Stone & Gravel. They have also stated that the gravel was hauled there to do work on Hwy 77.
Were you working for the company about that time, or did you drive a gravel truck from Memphis and board at the big
house by the railroad track in Newbern about that time?
