Sharon

I am sorry, but I do not believe I can help you. There are some Moses Payne's in the line, but no Elijah. I checked your previous posts and saw where Elijah was in Chariton, MO. It is interesting that a number of descendants of my John Payne settled in Chariton County moving there in the 1820's, 30's or 40's. In the 1850 Chariton County census, of the five Payne families listed, four are descendants of John Payne plus other non-Payne-named families are also related.

John and Isaac, Jr. Payne were born in MD. Moved to Rowan, NC about 1795 where Isaac, Jr. died in 1801. John and his sons--eight, but I can only account for six--moved to Smith County, TN about 1808. In 1818, John moved to Boone County, MO with most of his sons arriving in MO about that time also where they settled in various counties.

One son, Lawrence, who had a son, Moses, later moved to MS from TN where others from his wife's family also settled. John's brother, Isaiah, had moved from MD to NC and then to SC where died about 1818. He had a son, Moses, who I believe ended up in AL. If you would like more details, let me know.
