This weekend I found a photograph album in a box of old family stuff. Many of the pictures were taken by photography studios in Memphis, TN. My ancestors lived in HARDEMAN COUNTY and TIPTON COUNTY, TN in the first half of the 1800’s. I believe most of the people in these pictures are from that area or had connections with that area. Some may have been from VIRGINIA, NORTH CAROLINA, or KENTUCKY where my family lived before migrating to Western Tennessee. The photos were taken over a period of several years. The early ones are daguerreotype.
The album has an index of names, however I can tell that some of the photographs are not in their original slots. Some of the pictures have names and information written on the back and others do not. In some cases, I am not sure what name goes with what picture, but I am working on putting the proper name with each face.
If any of you connect with any of these families, let me know and I will send you copies of any photos you want. Perhaps you can help me identify some of them. Also, the index is hand written. I have done my best to make out the writing but had to guess on some names. So use your imagination if some names look similar but not exactly like your ancestors.
