Judy, Possibly,KOTM refers to Knight of the Month or an org related to the Knights of Columbus. The following from a website showing antique brass buttons. You can search Google for pages on KOTM.

Shown above at the time of this posting are about 120 matching high dome brass coat (7/8") and collar (1/2") buttons. Each are embossed on the front: "Uniform Rank, K.O.T.M." and have the usual representation of the Tabernacle, crossed swords and "MC". I photographed one of the more worn buttons here to better show the detail
