George, b. 1840 and wife Manerva A. Janes, age 37 in 1880 census lived in District 2. George was a blacksmith. Children listed are Minnie, age 5; Dora, age 2. Others listed are James Gillaspie, age 14; Elizabeth Gillaspie, age 7 and Robert Janes, age 37. This family is listed on famiysearch.org. The Gillaspies were step children of George W. Janes and Robert Janes was his brother.
I am informed that this family is related to George & Hannah (Reed)Janes who lived in White Co., IN. George was b. in 1805 & d. intestate about 1847 in White Co. His widow, Hannah later m. John Davis f/o Joseph Ware Davis [1828-1879] who m. Nancy Minerva Janes.
Nancy Minerva (Janes) Davis advised her son John R. Davism my grandfather that her grandfather was drafted into the British Navy at the beginning of the Rev. War, remained in America and became a citizen of VA. I will aprreciate any additional information from Tipton Co. researchers.
