Michael, are you related to these Wilson Co. Thorntons? My line is through Mary E. Thornton and Luke Wood. They are my great great grandparents. Their daughter Calperna Cicero married John Whitely of Short Creek, Granyson Co. KY. Their daughter Ambrosia Francis (Ammie) married Spirous Trammuel (Dockey) Shaw also of Grayson Co. Dockey and Ammie were my father's parents.
The Thornton family is difficult to trace because they were Cherokee and were not on the Trail of Tears. However, I found a number of Thorntons on the OK rolls but I don't know the connection.
I have a copy of the original marriage license of Mary and Luke from Wilson Co. and Seth's estate settlement and some other documents from there.
My family has always said that Mary's father was Perry Thornton and if this is true, how does Seth fit in? Do you think Seth was her father?
I have a lot of information on the family through my line. Will be happy to share with you.
