Rufus Coffee or G Hancock, b.1856 TN

I'm looking for Rufus Coffee or G. Hancock, b. 6/18/1856, reported by one source to have been born in Lebanon, Wilson or Shelby, TN. There are a lot of Hancock lines that spring from that area, many of them from the marriage of Samuel Hancock (1730-1813) and Mildred Dawson (1740-1758), who had 12 children. Rufus shows up in the 1880 census in Rusk County, Texas, with a whole bunch of other Hancocks evidently from the same extended family. I can't find my Rufus in any of those families, though, or place him for sure in Tennessee. Can anybody be of any help in my trying to track him down? Thanks.
