King. Hancock. and other familes from Patrick County, Va ended up, after the counties were sub-divided, in Cannon County by 1836. They lived along Sycamore Creek that runs from west of Woodbury, north toward Gassaway In the 1940s, Rufus A. Dennis wrote an unpublished book on these families.
