This is a shot in the dark. My step-grandmother, Marjorie (Margie) Ruth Jonagan Cannon Manfull(b. 27 Aug 1812) was listed as the sister of Paul H. Jonagan, (b. 2 Jan 1908, d. 28 Mar 1964 ) retired navy chief yoeman, in his obituary printed in the New-Press, St Joseph MO Mar 30 1964. His mother was listed as Mrs. Margaret Tootle on that date. From another obit, it appears that Margaret Gross Jonagan Tootle had 3 sisters: Retha Gross Todd (William), Bess Gross Henderson [both of Albany, MO], Grace Gross Murray of Boulder, CO, and a brother named J. H. Gross of Denver., MO.
Grandma Margie never had any children of her own, nor did her brother Paul. She was married for @ 50 years to Alex Cannon, a kind and wonderful man, and then married my grandfather, Cyrus Walden Manfull after they were both widowed. The Cannons and the Manfulls had been good friends for more than 40 years. She gave my grandfather 7 good years of love and care.
I would like to learn more about her family. I know that her mother was a country schoolteacher during most of her childhood and that they lived with her maternal grandparents (the Gross family) until she married Alex.
