I am looking for information about the Trail family and seem to have come to the right place. As far as I can tell, my 3x-great grandfather was named William E. Trail (or possibly William H.) from Montgomery County, MD. I believe he was born around 1816 and married Eliza E. Trail. He had a son born about 1861 named John E. Trail, who relocated to Granite, MD just outside of Baltimore towards the end of the 19th century. This is the line that I descend from. Unfortunately, many of my relatives have passed away leaving me with little known history of the family beyond a generation or two. I have also read that the Trails originally hail from Scotland, but I am at a loss trying to place my line in the family tree. Does anyone know where this branch fits in the Trail family tree? Any information you have is most appreciated.
