George, thank you for looking.
The 1 Mar 1818 date is most important as it proves when William Trail and John Gilliland were first there. That would be just a little more than five years from the time William Trail married Sarah Hammond in Sumner County, Tennessee. The Indians were there when they moved to that part of Missouri. I wasn't able to find much about Lincoln County, Missouri on Ancestry or at the library but have some other sources to try. I did some work on the Hammond's of Lincoln County, Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky. Nothing conclusive.
