John Trover was a Private in the Virginia Militia. He served two years in Regiment C, John Varney Company, under General Joseph Crockett. His unit served on the western defense. Since he served in the state's militia he was not recognized as serving in the Revolutionary War until after he died. His land grant was not awarded until Nov. 18, 1844 from KY.
