There is a william udall born in Preston in 1846 I wonder if he wasn't born in Bury at all I have one relative who appears as being born in berwick on one census, warrington on another and even france on one. Her sister was born in france and i think with a big family they probably got confused I will carry on looking and will let you know if I find out anything else.
