Hello,

What I think about the Ednies in Fife who are not descendant of Alexander Ednie (née Udny) & Agnes Clark, it is that they were Edneys that came from England, because most of the time the name Ednie is shown to be a scottish variation of the name Edney in England.

First, I thought that I was too descendant of the Ednies/Edneys from England, but then after searching more, I've discovered, that Alexander Ednie, married Agnes Clark under the name of Udny.

And so I knew about the Ednies before 1770 (date of mariage of Alex & Agnes), and so I assumed they were the ones descendant of an english man named Edney that came to Scotland at the end of the 1600's.

So not all Ednies are related! Ednies in Fife are either descendant of Alexander Udny of Aberdeen, or of the Edneys from England.
