I have a Jean Uebelhoer born January 17, 1792 in Bremmelbach, Alsace, France. I lose track of him and thought it was possible he fled to the U.S. like many of his relatives, including his sister Catherine Uebelhoer Zent and his brother Nicolas Uebelhoer [my ancestor], both going to Amherst, Erie County, New York. They are all children of Christien Uebelhoer and Anne Catherine Winter. I have more further info if you're interested. Only recently did I subscribe a year to Ancestry.com's Census Collection. On it I found a John Uebelhoer, who I thought could be mine. Mine spoke German - the family was German in background - where they lived (Alsace) has been under both German and French control through the years. There is only one way to PROVE your Honey Brook John Uebelhoer and my Jean Uebelhoer were the same person. Was he Catholic? Mine was! I don't think many Pennsylvanian's were. That would definitely tell us if its the same guy. Here is what I have under my Jean Uebelhoer's "Notes". Let me know what you think: THE 1840 CENSUS HAS LISTED A GUY BETWEEN THE AGE OF 40 AND 50 NAMED JOHN EVILHARE LIVING IN HONEY BROOK, CHESTER CO, PA USA...IS IT HIM? In 1857 he's listed on a census done in Honeybrook, Pennsylvania as John Eblehor. There is also a John D. and Samuel Eblehor in the town - sons? From the 1850 Census, here's more on that guy: Pennsylvania, Chestor Co, Honeybrook Twp Ebelhore, John, age 65, tailor, born Germany Elizabeth, age 45, born PA James, age 23, plaster, born PA Fredericka, age 21, born PA Eliza F, age 19, born PA Julie Ann, age 18, born PA John D, age 15, born PA Sarah Ann, age 13, born PA Robert, age 12, born PA Hiram, age 11, born PA Mary E, age 8, born PA George, age 5, born PA Notify Administrator about this message?
