John,
My name is Tom Grieves and I live in Australia. My Dad was Cristopher born in Ryhope 1892. His Father was William (spelled his surname GREIVES) born in West Rainton in 1868. His Father(who adopted him)was Robert born in Haswell 1843 married to Elizabeth Fenwick. His Father was David born about 1820 wife's name unknown.

On the marriage certificate for William to Elizabeth Jane Redshaw Hunt in Ryhope in 1889, George Hutchison (note spelling)is a witness as is a Thomasine Hamilton.

I am also trying to trace a "Polly" Mary? Redshaw born about 1835 who married a William Pakin a coalminer with a hook on his arm.

Does any of this fit in with your family?

Regards,
Tom.
