Looking for any information about Charles Newton in the Mexican-American War 1846-1848. Charles Newton was born around 1820. He settled in the Fort Garland, Costilla County, Colorado area in 1860 and married Maria de los Reyes Cortez in 1852 and they had some children, one of which was Charles (Carlos) Newton b. 1852. Every census that I have seen of Charles says he was born in Pennsylvania. I am thinking that perhaps he served in the war and that's how he ended up in Colorado. If anyone has access to the veterans of this war and could do a look up for this person and any info that would be on those records, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.
