Hello,
Checked some of my records. I cannot find a Mary Butler as a cousin to the John Vader that married Nancy. Also because John stayed close to family I can`t even find that they had or even needed a maid. If he had a cousin it would come from Cornelius Vader b. in 1806 or Born`t Vader b.1805 Mary Butler became a Butler by marriage so she would have to be a Vader by maiden age 49 in 1880 Census places her birth at 1831/32. I suggest you try searching for John G. Vedder from the Albany area and you will find that he too changed the spelling of his last name. Vader/Veeder/Vedder. There is a John Giles Vader/Veeder/Vedder and John Gustaves Vader. John Gustaves Vader married Nancy Gardiner. John Giles? Vedder/Vadder mihght have married a Mary ?. Hope this helps....
