Hello Heather,

You have me a bit confused about John G Vadder on the 1880 Census. Are you sure this is the one you are looking for? You mentioned upper Syracuse Albany New York area. I really never heard of a John Vader/Vedder/Veeder from that area who would move to Genesee County no matter what town they migrated to. Lots of Vaders/Vedders/Veeders migrated from Western New York as they so call it.

I am posting this to help any Vader/Veeder out there. To answer your question about your Mary Butler being the cousin to John Vader b.1810-1814 and what could be her maiden name is a "Vader" this could be guessing on my part, I have not checked out all of my facts or papers that I have on this family but if she is the daughter of Bornt Vader b.1804 or his son Henry Vader b.? then she is a Vader and cousin to John G.Vader. John G.Vadder that you are inquiring about is brother to my 4th great grandmother Betsey Vader who married a Van Buren. There is another Mary in a newspaper clip I have, needs to be checked. One of Betsey children married a Mary E.Hoag who was b.in ME and maybe that is how your Mary met George Butler. As a small child I lived in a "Butler" home in Libertyville that my parents purchased thru family members. Now there is another John Veder also known as John G.Vader in Oakfield married to a Mary Ann ? I am checking on some cemetery records to compare my notes with death dates that I have.

Peace Elizabeth
