Vadnais origins in France?

Has anyone had any luck on tracing the Vadnais line back to a specific town/farm/region in France? Any solid documentation for birth in France of Pierre Remi Vadenay (Vadnais) in the 1690s?

Tracing Vadnais lines from Canada to Minnesota and North Dakota 1840-present.
