Hi Rosanna,
I am embarassed to say that I know very little about my grandmother and her family beyond what was written in my baby book when I was born (she was listed as Marie Vaillencourt, her parent's names were written as Cyril Vaillencourt and Melina Brideau). I will see if my aunts know about a sister named Rose.
I have encountered a few problems due to the confusion of different individuals with the same name. There were at least two Damase Vaillancourts, for example, born in the latter half of the 19th century. One, the son of Joseph Vaillancourt and Philomene Gagnon, was born ca. 1879 and married Eleonore Devost. The other, the son of Pierre Vaillancourt and Modeste Thibodeau, was born ca. 1836 and married Anastasie Sirois dite Duplessis. Damase and Anastasie were the parents of Cyrille Vaillancourt (born ca. 1869), who married Melina Brideau. This is according to the best information I have at this time, which of course might be wrong. I've pasted the two lines of descent to the two different Damases at the bottom of this letter. I've also pasted information from Glenna Hopkin, who is researching CV-MB as well.

Melina Brideau is a daughter to my great grandfather, Melina as we know was born July 9, 1883 and she married Cyrille Vaillancourt-Smart , I do not know what the marriage date , but I am starting to wonder about that date?? I found Melina H Vaillancourt in the census of 1930 where she was 57 years of age which would make her birth date about 1873. She died July 30, 1968 age 78 in Lewiston, Maine death certificate No 6805606 , The latter dates makes more sense to me . Melina parents are Honore (Henry Brideau) and Celina Arseneault . Celina was his 1st wife
.Melina has a sister Marie Judith born December 12, 1885 and lived in Fitchburg, Massachusets and married a Maxime Dumas: a brother David born October 8, 1886 and died in 1978 married to Sarah Falcon Ramsay; sister Vitaline born February 1, 1889 married Albert Benoit and Xavier born May 22, 1891 he died as a baby and was buried with his mother in Bartibog, New Brunswick. She also had 3 step brothers and 6 step sisters I have all this info if you would like it. As we understand My great grandmother Marie Anne Vautour who was his 2nd wife took care of the children from the first marriage when Celina died.
