Mairi,

Thanks for your response. Yours is the first information I've heard, other than what was included in an anonymous history of the Lowrie family written about 1900. Portage County (Ohio) Historical Society has a copy of that in their files.

The only details I have on George's early life are that he was born November 07, 1802, "Scotland," married March 08, 1833, "Scotland," and left Scotland for the U. S. in 1837. Others named in the same history, including George's wife Mary Lowrie, were born in "Dunse, Berwick Shire, Scotland," one in "Quixwood, Berwick Shire, Scotland," and one in "Rockbury Shire, Scotland."

I'm quite interested in any other information you might have to share. Are there church records of the marriages and births, and if so, has LDS microfilmed them?

Please feel free to email me direct, and I'm always happy to share any information I have on descendants if you're interested.

Jack Brode
