Colleen, I don't know about the geneology of the Van Ripers. I did however live directly across the Garden State parkway and so I was able to see the back of the farm. I lived there from 1972 through 1976 and each halloween they used to hoist that witch (very scary) over the hay stacks. They also had turkey shoots for Thanksgving, the shots would echo over the Garden State chasm into our yard. Around the age of 16 i got a job pouring cider, at Van Ripers and frying donuts. Great job. All the cider and donuts i could eat. I just went back there to see my old neighborhood, about a month ago and the farm has been replaced by BMW corp. I also knew Richard Tice, who's dad had Tice's farm, he went to my school Pascack Hills, and we took him camping with us. Woodcliff Lake was a great area to grow up in and Van Ripers was part of that child hood. Notify Administrator about this message?
