The 1880 Soundex Census shows the following:

Ozark Twp., Texas Co., MO (p. 33)

Mary T. VIRGIN age 27, b. MO
Jessee " " 12, " "
Sophia " " 9, " "
Arminta " " 6, " "

I have not searched the regular 1880 Census for this family, but this may give you a clue as to your "Minta's" ancestry.

I found no other VIRGIN families in Texas Co. this year and none in the surrounding counties of Dent, Pulaski, Leclede, Wright, Douglas, Howell, Shannon or Phelps.

The 1870 Census of Marble Hill, Bollinger Co., MO shows: (taken 26 Jul)

Mary VIRGIN, age 19, b. MO
James VIRGIN, age 26 (male) Farmer, b. MO
Jesse VIRGIN, age 2 (male), b. MO

This family was not listed in Bollinger Co. in the 1880 Census, so "may be" the 1880 Texas Co. family. If so, there were many other VIRGIN families living nearby and their origins were NC and SC.

You might try writing to the Texas County Courthouse for vital records, deeds, probate, etc. for any VIRGIN person. Also, the 1900 Census might give you some answers.

Good luck with your search.
