Carrie, I've read message #183, and I've discussed it with Karen Cook. She had done a lot of research many years ago, and several years ago she had told me about Jacob Vowel who came to SC about 1760 (she says 1760 more likely to be correct than 1710) whom she thought was father of Obediah Vowell. However, she didn't have any real proof of the relationship. She had found the name Jacob Vowel on a ship's passenger list. Her research material got lost several years ago, and she doesn't clearly remember details about what she had found.

I've found records of Obediah Vowell being in Granville Co., NC, as early as May 9, 1776. It seems possible there could be a connection between him and the Mary Vowel who died in Granville Co. 1786-1787.

Hopefully Karen will be able to find again what she had found before.
