What is "a troop of horse"? Well, "a troop of horse" refers to soldiers on horseback, i.e. cavalry, but more specifically to a certain number of cavalrymen. I think "a troop of horse" is consisted of somewhere between 60 to 80 cavalrymen. (I'll humbly accept correction of how many in a troop, because I don't know for sure.)
