Dear Vicki,
This is all I know. Rebecca Sutherland was born about 1779 in Washington Co., TN. I believe. She is not my direct line but her husband's family is. She mard. George Brown who was born 31 Jul 1778 in Rowan Co., N.C. He died Sep 1858 in Rush Co., Indiana. They had a daughter, the only child I have in my program. Her name was Phebe and she was born 4 Nov 1819 in Washington Co., TN. She mard. Peter Smelser in 1843 in Rush Co., IN. Rebecca and George mard. in 1800 in Washington Co., TN.
George's parents were:
Jacob Brown II B 1752 in E. Cocalico Township, Lancaster, PA. He died 10 May 1841 in Washington Co., TN.
His wife, Elizabeth Artmire was born 28 Jan 1769 in Washington Co., TN. and died Bef 1816 also in Washington County, TN. They were married 29 Aug 1774 in Rowan Co., NC. This fact leads me to believe that Elizabeth Artmire was not born in Washington Co but in Rowan Co., NC.
I got this information from a man here in Memphis who has written a book and done a great deal of research on the Brown line, even hired a woman in Germany to carry the Brown or Braun line back to Germany several generations. If you're interested in the particulars on the Brown line, I'll look them up. I'm sorry I couldn't help you more. Good luck. Brenda
